I would like to take this moment to wish all of you amazingly wonderful people, who use part of your precious time to visit me here at SimplyChronicallyIll, a very Merry Christmas and a safe and healing New Year!

Thank you for being such supportive, kind and encouraging people that allow me to see the best that humans have to offer.  It is such an honor to be part of the WP bloggers.

I will return in February when I look forward to seeing all of you again.  Please remember to be kind to yourself and each other, this world can be a brutal place and you may be the only kindness someone experiences.

Celebrating the Holy Days on a Budget

It is that beautiful time of year again when we celebrate Advent, the time we prepare our hearts and minds for the birth of Jesus.

Raising a family of 6 on a budget, I understand the stress that Christmas can create, a time when we feel the need to overdo everything, gifts, parties, meals, decorations…….but all of this costs money and can distract from the real reason of the season.

I have written a book that lists many of the ways my family has celebrated the hoidays while living on a tight budget –  Frugal Seeds 101 Ways to Celebrate the Holiday Season on a Budget.  It can be read FREE with KindleUnlimited and is available on Amazon in e-book and  paperback.

Like so many other people on this small planet, I take the beginning of a new year to set out goals that I hope to accomplish over the next year.  I have a lot of them, eat healthier, move my body more, spend more time in nature, save more money, pay down debt, read more books, spend more time with God and go on more dates with my husband.  As I was mulling over what it is I would like to accomplish this year, I realized that I really just need to spend more time doing the good stuff and less time doing the bad stuff.  Yep, that about sums it up!

January 1st, 2018 I decided to make a resolution not to watch any TV news.  I made this resolution half joking, saying it mainly out of frustration of all the depressing stories I heard day after day.  What I discovered after a few weeks was that I felt a bit better.  My anxiety dropped and I spent less time watching TV.   It was a wonderful experience/experiment and one I plan to carry on in 2019 as part of my……..do more of good and and less of the bad activities.
