more of the good

Like so many other people on this small planet, I take the beginning of a new year to set out goals that I hope to accomplish over the next year.  I have a lot of them, eat healthier, move my body more, spend more time in nature, save more money, pay down debt, read more books, spend more time with God and go on more dates with my husband.  As I was mulling over what it is I would like to accomplish this year, I realized that I really just need to spend more time doing the good stuff and less time doing the bad stuff.  Yep, that about sums it up!

Wishing all of you a very blessed New Year!  May you reach your goals………

no tv news

January 1st, 2018 I decided to make a resolution not to watch any TV news.  I made this resolution half joking, saying it mainly out of frustration of all the depressing stories I heard day after day.  What I discovered after a few weeks was that I felt a bit better.  My anxiety dropped and I spent less time watching TV.   It was a wonderful experience/experiment and one I plan to carry on in 2019 as part of my……..do more of good and and less of the bad activities.

Wishing you a year of more good stuff in your life!

get to know me

Thank you so very much Ana from momlifewithchiari for this tag, I am thrilled to be picked by such a dear person that I have come to call friend……and not just because we share a disorder.  Please take a moment to go check out her blog.

Rules:

  1. Thank the Person Who Nominated You
  2. Provide a Link to their Website
  3. Answer the “Get To Know Me” Questions
  4. Nominate 10-15 Bloggers.
  5. Pass on the Same 10 Questions ( With an additional of 2 of yours, if you wish )

The Questions:

1. What does your name mean?

I have always wanted a story to go along with my name, but alas, there is none.  I am not named after anyone or any character, I guess my mom just liked the name and wanted it to be different from the original spelling and replaced the Y with an I.

But, according to the Urban Dictionary, Wendi means friend……….I’ll take that.

2. Are you scared of heights?

Oh my goodness, Yes!

3. What is your best physical feature?

I can smile through most pain and discomfort.

4. What is your favorite Music Genre?

I enjoy most types of music……..classical, 60s-present day, Indie, folk, ethnic, bluegrass, rock, and some heavy metal.

5. Are you a good cook?

I really can’t answer this question as cooking is something that I have never enjoyed doing……….my last post may give you a glimpse into whether or not you would think I am a good cook.

6. What is your favorite Ice-cream flavor?

Sugar is something that I work very hard at staying away from, but, if I had to pick one I would choose So Delicious dairy-free, coconut milk chocolate frozen dessert.

7. Do you have any allergies?

Yes,  lots of them.  Mostly foods and mold.

8. What is your favorite festival?

Pow-Wows.  To find a Pow Wow taking place in your area click this link.

9. Which of your parents do you look like?

Great question, probably a combination of both with some grandparents’ features thrown in.

10. Who is your favorite Musician?

Robert Mirabal

My Nominees:

I would LOVE anyone who took the time to read this post to do this tag.  If you choose this “challenge” I will be thrilled to put your link below……..just let me know and I will add it.  Thank you so much!

in those deep and dark moments of physical and emotional pain you search your soul for strength………….

and in those moments you pray for guidance, for relief – that if there is a lesson to be learned………….to please reveal it in a clear and gentle way………….

maybe it is in these moments when we really learn how strong we are, or maybe it is how weak………..

that we can get through this on our own…………….or that we need others

we are mentally strong enough to tackle it head on……………..or how close we are  completely losing it………….

it is in these moments we realize just how fragile we are………..how we walk a pencil thin line everyday………….between making it and breaking down………….

a run

i am running………… running down the beach, the way i did when i was young

my toes gripping the damp sand

my body is moving so freely, so easily, without pain or hindrance

feeling the wind blow through my hair, my body moving swiftly

feeling my lungs burn because i am moving so fast……….

feeling my muscles ache because i am  pushing myself……..

it all feels amazing……my body feels so strong………..

i wake up and experience the loss in my soul of what i can no longer do………….but in my dream, it was wonderful, and maybe, just maybe,  I can run down that beach again tonight.

unsolicited advice

black ball point pen with brown spiral notebook

I always carry a small notebook and pen with me wherever I go.  I do this for two main reasons;  one, I like to be able to jot down ideas or thoughts on paper that pop into my head before they fade into the abyss, and two, to pass along my info to someone who is giving me unsolicited advice.  Let me explain……….

I have been dealing with chronic illness for y-e-a-r-s, so I have heard a lot of remedies for my ailments. In fact, as I was typing this post I remembered even more unwanted advice and added those to a previous post.

So, I now deal with unwanted medical advice in a very simple way.  I politely thank the individual for caring so much about me that s/he wants to help.  I explain to them that I have a difficult time retaining new auditory information (which is true) and I would love to read more about their cure.  I take out my notebook and I write down either my email or physical address (which ever seems more appropriate for the situation) and tell them I look forward to hearing from them.

You can probably guess the rest………..I have NEVER once been sent any information through the mail, and who doesn’t love receiving mail?!  I have received two or three  emails over the years and they did contain some valid health information.  Now if I could only find a way to stop them from offering advice in the first place!

Until next time………
