Over the past several weeks I have read about ways that this global situation has brought out the very best and the very worst in people. But it is comforting to know that all of you amazingly kind, loving, and generous people here on WP go out of your way to help others as you are able.
So my question for you this week is, “If you were given $100, or the equivalent, and you had to give it away, what would you do with it?”
I look forward to reading your awesome responses, and I thank you in advance for your comments.

One of the Lady in my church class lost her job so I told her that I did not want to offend her but I wanted to bless her with a small cash gift. She was surprised but happy. It was her younger son Birthday so I asked her if she wanted she could buy him another gift. When I give cash money and I do not have much, I always tell people that I don’t mean any offence but, etc. Is that ok with you?

God bless you for reaching out and helping others. I am sure the gift you have given to this woman has given her the reassurance that she is noticed, and loved and cared for. May God richly bless you and you have so richly blessed others!

I have not really thought of what I would do in that particular circumstance. I usually wait and that ‘something’ will usually bob up when it is ready 😀
But an equivalent event was I was given $300 for doing a job that I would have done for nothing. I refused it initially but they refused to not pay me for something that I had done for them. After receiving it I had this urge (I say urge 😂 ), to tuck it away as she would need it at a later time when things may not be as ‘financial’.
It was given in love so it shall be returned in kind 😀 ❤️ 🙏🏽 🦋

What a great idea to share here, Wendi, to take our minds off of ourselves, and onto our Lord’s perspective of kindness and giving! I would ask God to show me who He wants to bless, and I know He would highlight a person or family or ministry–it’s always something that I don’t expect when I ask that of Him. He knows the giving that He wants to encourage! May you be blessed tonight, also, dear friend!

Hi Wendi…. I’d the money to the MS charity, here in Geelong…. I’m afraid the charity shops are all in lock-down, but this terrible for the groups that rely on charity shop, and these vital cogs in our communities are being overlooked….

There’s an interesting spin-off question to this. I’m assuming I’d give the money to a charity, but how do we decide which one? Just in the UK, there are a quarter million charities, each and every one doubtless a good cause. So, how do we decide?

Great question! 🙂

It’s worth thinking about because it makes us realise that we can’t just give to a “worthy cause”, because they’re all worthy. There’s got to be something more than that. I would say it is a personal connection. My main charity was the uk’s stroke charity, but I gave my time to them rather than money. Funny, I stopped volunteering for them just before Corona hit.

I would give it to our local food pantry. This is a smaller community, and they have done an amazing job of providing food for those that lost their jobs and can’t work from home, as well as the people they already help along the way.
A friend of mine was the director for several years, and she would tell us that the pantry can buy so much more for the donated money, than what the public could buy at the groceries stores for the same amount and then donate.

Hi Wendi! I once received exactly 100.00 when I was brand new to God from someone who prayed. God led her to us. Our family was in great need of food that week. Our boys were small, and I was still tied to much sin in my life. Praise God! If I were given 100.00, I would pray about who needed this cash until I heard from the Lord. I would carry it everywhere with me (not that I am going too many places these days) in case He directed me to a stranger. Thank you and God bless you this given Sunday. Love in Christ, Julie

When I was in college I gave money away- my dad wasn’t that impressed, but I didn’t care. I liked paying bills for others. You are right, $100 wouldn’t do much. But, it would help, like those bills I used to help finish paying. If it was our world last year, I’d give it to allow a couple to have dinner out (gods, I’d love to eat out somewhere that wasn’t fast food!). Today? Resurrection Sunday is almost here, Perhaps buying a bunch of 4 or 6 pack flowers and dropping them off in various yards for people to plant? Flowers feed a soul.

I a minute, and regret that I didn’t have more.
We aren’t losing much, is anything, from this pandemic. We are lucky hubby can work from home, and wasn’t laid off when they slashed 20% of his company’s workforce. And I still get my disability…the little that it is.
So we have been trying to help the small businesses we love so much. We’ve bought gift certificates, ordered from them on line…. and I gave extra to the food bank.
If I see a stimulus check that will be donated, either to someone I personally know who has been affected, or to a local charity.
No matter how little I have, I always try to give something. At one time in my life I had to depend on the kindness of others, I will forever pay it forward. But even if that had not happened I believe I would always give. If not money, time, kindness, something of myself.
As Anne Frank said, ‘You are never too poor to give.’
Since getting sick I have felt like I can’t contribute, I can’t make a difference, I can’t help anyone. I’m lucky enough that I can help some a little monetarily, and that makes me feel like I may have made a difference, in some small way, I may have helped. But that’s not why I do it, that’s just a byproduct.
At this time, I feel so helpless, I wish I knew how to help. Not being able to touch those who really need human contact is breaking my heart.
A long answer again.

I wanted to mention a small thing people are doing in my neighborhood.
We are putting are in our windows, and stuffed animals (so the kids can search them out) people are creating sidewalk art… all to boost spirits during this time.
One Sunday we had an hour where one neighbor played music from her garage for all who could hear, a duo who performs in a local place has gone around performing from the street.
It’s been amazing to see the kindness. The unity in our community.
Anyone can do some of these things.
I put art in my windows and stuffed animals.
I’m going to try to do more, but that I could do no matter how sick.
Stay safe. xoxo. Hugs from afar

Thanks so much, Wendi. My daughter bought a car from her brother last year sometime and we were finding it a problem to sell her old one. So we decided unanimously (both of us) to donate it to the Humane Society. They took it to auction and got over $1000 for it which made us both extremely happy. It was a pretty car, just very old. You stay safe and out of the fray as well. I have my daughter here that takes care of shopping for me and she goes out in mask and gloves. No sense in taking chances.
