A warm hello to you today, thank you for stopping by for a visit.

In this post I am asking a question for more personal reasons.  Due to my multiple chronic illnesses, I unfortunately spend a lot of time watching movies.  Even if I am not actually watching movies, I have them playing in the background as I go about my day as I use them as a distraction.

So my question is, What is your favorite holiday movie?

Thank you for responding, I am hoping to discover one movie that I have not yet seen!

Thanks again for stopping by.  Please know that each one of you are in my thoughts and I have prayed that today is treating you well and bringing you smiles.

  1. I wrote about a movie last week in blog, actually! It’s one of my favorites: “Lakehouse.” It’s not a Holiday movie, although it does move through all the seasons. I am praying for you tonight, Dear Friend. May the Lord bring peace and relief to you this week! Love & Blessings!

  2. Mine will surely be one(s) you’ve seen, but I’ll post anyway: I love most of the Rankin & Bass Stop-motion animated movies – they bring back great memories and always put me in the Christmas spirit. My favorite is The Year without a Santa Claus. In the “live-action” realm, it’s definitely A Christmas Story!

    • Thank you so very much Marcia for leaving your favorite movies. I am a huge fan of The Year Without a Santa Claus – I have watched it over and over when my kids were younger – thank you for bringing back such great memories.

  5. I need a good soppy movie too Wendi. Haven’t actually watched a movie forever, except maybe with my grandchildren. My husband always has to watch It’s a Wonderful Life and Miracle on 34th Street. My mom recently watched Little Women, and even though it’s not necessarily Christmas, it might do the trick.

  6. I remember a British comedy/drama movie called Millions- about two young brothers, I think, who find money thrown off a train by thieves close to the time of devaluation of the pound. It has a children’s Christmas play sequence in it- on the whole a touching discovery of real values in life. I always wanted to see it again. Atypical and yet is seasonal.

  7. Miracle on 34th Street. Watched a few times. I may have other favourites, but this is the first one that comes to mind.
I was hoping to discover a new Christmas movie on dvd this year. But I haven’t. So just have some others to watch over the holiday time.

  8. My all-time favorite holiday movie is Home Alone!
Certain scenes have made me laugh so loudly, despite the fact that I’ve watched it soo many times.
I completely understand where you are coming from. ❤️
Apart from movies, I always have music playing around in the background while I work almost all day long. It has always helped, and besides if a good tune pops up, getting up to shake your booty, also counts as a workout right? Lol!

    • absolutely that counts as a workout! 🙂
I also enjoy the movie Home Alone – I even watched it again this weekend. Thank you so very much Sal for taking the time to visit and leave a response to the question. Hope your day is blessed.

    • Hi Lesley, thank you so very muchf for stopping by to comment. I also enjoy Scrooged with Bill Murray but I am not sure if I have seen as Good As It Gets….I will check it out and see if our library has it.
The Shack is a great movie too, but I have to admit, I enjoyed the book much better.

I hope today is treating you well.

      • Yes, I read The Shack too and I loved it. It made such a great impression on me. As Good as it Gets is very funny. It’s a feel-good film with a happy ending. I can watch it over and over. ☺

  9. Wendi, I too watch a lot of movies and also series. I really don’t have any Christmas suggestions other then the ones already listed here. On the days I need rest or the pain is just too much, I’m on the couch. Wish I could be of more help. I’m watching two series now, but they are not Christmas related. Do you have Netflix?

  10. We almost always see It’s a Wonderful Life and White Christmas. I also love Elf. There was one a few years ago about two dads searching all over town for the latest hot Christmas toy — I can’t remember the name, how it ended, or anything else about it, but I remember thinking it was fun.

Two new ones I’ve enjoyed this year are The Knight Before Christmas on Netflix and The Man Who Invented Christmas (about Dickens writing A Christmas Carol) on iTunes.

I like some of the various Christmas specials on TV, too, and the Christmas episodes of shows like Little House on the Prairie, The Waltons, and When Calls the Heart.

    • Thank you Barbara for such great suggestions! It’s a Wonderful Life is a great movie and so is White Christmas and Elf 🙂 I have also watched The Knight Before Christmas and found it enjoyable and really enjoyed The Man Who Invented Christmas – as I am a huge fan of The Christmas Carol……
I haven’t seen The Waltons Christmas special so I am going to see if I can get that at the library. Thank you so much for all the wonderful suggestions Barbara. God bless you….

  11. I watch a few movies this time of year. Holiday Inn and White Christmas are two top favs. However, my absolute favorite movie for Christmas (skip the love song…) is Muppets Christmas Carol. It’s one of two best versions of Dickens story, the other is one with Patrick Stewart as Scrooge.

    • You are so very kind Caz, please know I am sending you a gentle hug 🙂
I admit that many of the romantic Christmas movies seem just so over the top………but I do enjoy more realistic ones.
I am happy to be in such great company – I also LOVE Nightmare Before Christmas…….
I hope today is treating you well my dear! 🙂

  12. Wow! I have this listed for an up coming “What about you?” post, but I ask for three! So I’ll give you mine, early (your welcome!😆🤣😆) The Grinch! Both versions. Elf, good clean fun! The Family Man. Absolutely great movie! I watch these DVDs every Christmas season. I don’t think it be Christmas without them. The Hallmark Channel plats non stop Christmas movies too… for noise, because I’m with Caz. Too sickly sweet, most of them. Merry Christmas Wendi and Happy Holiday viewing! 😊💜🦋

    • Yay! Great minds think alike Kim………Elf is probably my favorite holiday movie and I watch it AT LEAST 5 times each season 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 I also enjoy both grinch movies too and The Family Man, I am going to see what that one is…….
I do not have the Hallmark Channel, but I promised my daughters that the week before Christmas if we can get a one week free trial we would sign up. I agree, so ridiculously over the top but I do enjoy background noise during the day.
Hope today is treating you well and you are settling into your new home.

  13. We always watch Elf for a good laugh, it’s silly but it’s a tradition. Polar express is also a beautiful movie. I tend to love miniseries movies like North and South from the 80’s. I remember watching that with my family when I was a teenager. My daughter bought the DVD version one year because she enjoyed watching the one from our local library. We also watch the God Father trilogies during the holidays.

    • Yes!!!! I also LOVE the movie Elf, it is probably my favorite Christmas movie. Polar Express is also a great movie………my kids – when they were younger – loved the hot, hot, hot chocolate part.
I will need to look into North and South…..it is embarrassing but I watch so much I am not sure if I have seen that or not.
My husband LOVEs the GodFather series and I have also watched it once………
Thank you for taking the time to leave such awesome movie recommendations….

  14. Snow Globe, a town inside a snowglobe is occupied and a few people get out. The entire movie is them trying to get back in. It’s kind of a dumb movie, I saw it once and I suspect it has never been aired since. I’m constantly looking for it.

    • thank you so very much Jacques! You are the second person who mentioned this movie and I have requested it from my local library. I am very anxious to watch it.

  15. My favorite holiday movie is: The Holiday starring Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz.
Oh to run away to a cute adorable English cottage and fall i love with the owner’s brother. Or to run away to LA and meet the most charming and delightful Hollywood legends. Plus fall in love too!
    Perfect!

    • 🙂 I am currently watching White Christmas as I am knitting a hat – needed to give my hands a break so I checked my blog 🙂
The only movie I have not seen is Holiday Inn……someone else mentioned it so I am now waiting for it’s arrival from my library (they requested it from another library for me) Thank you for all the great suggestions….you and your time is very much appreciated. Bless you!

    • Thank you so very much Anita for sharing your movie choice as you have suggested another one that I have not seen, but will be checking my local library!
I also enjoy books on CD, but I tend to have a lot of distractions with my kiddos coming in and out of the kitchen ( it’s the businest place in the home ) so I tend to stick to movies as I can just keep replaying them. Do you have a favorite book on CD?
Thank you so very much for stopping by and joining in the discussion, I always appreciate your visits 🙂
